7 Wearable Spring Fashion Trends

Fashion Month was so exciting to watch this year… from the comfort of our homes. Everything was streamlined & digital. We’ve all been in lockdown for so long, that we’re ready for post-quarantine styling. And the runways proved that we’re making it fun & exciting with a renewed sense of playfulness. Which is a common theme you’re going to see throughout these upcoming trends! So let’s get started!

1. SORBET-COLORED TONES

Nothing says "Spring" like a pretty pastel. From buttercup yellow to mint green, this fun color palette will suit a wide-variety of skin tones. We are seeing these color EVERYWHERE—on the runway, we saw gorgeous sets from Chanel and jackets from Max Mara, these colors will be everywhere.

Here, I am wearing a bright lilac jumpsuit from Target. It’s $39 and fits so beautifully! These colors are synonymous of happiness, so if you’re looking to brighten up your wardrobe by bringing in a new color… find a gorgeous sorbet tone.

I also have this one that's a big more speedy from & Other Stories. This jumpsuit fits like a glove. And I love the heavy cording and belting. So flattering!

2. STATEMENT PANTS

After a year of leisurewear, it's time to end our dependence on joggers and leggings. I know it’s going to be a tough cycle to break but we can do this! We are seeing a big shift from sweatpants to comfortable, roomy wide-leg pants. On the runway, Louis Vuitton & Tibi had some gorgeous options. And if wide-leg isn’t comfortable enough, a lot of these new silhouettes are designed with stretch waistbands.. does it get any better?

Here I am wearing the Paperbag tapered pants from Madewell. Madewell does great jeans, but they also do amazing comortable trousers! They’re so good. For this trend, you’ll be able to find statement pants in an assortment of fabrics— twill, linen or silk. Denim as well. Jeans are very hot this coming season in a more relaxed fit. Which hey… is a nice transition from sweatpants.

3. TRENDY TRENCH

This classic piece is a must-have this spring and summer. They are being seen in a vast array of new patterns, colors and fabrics. Victoria Beckham & Louis Vuitton took creative liberties with their trench options. All gorgeous.

Here I am wearing a classic trench from H&M. What makes this unique is the material. It is a more soft and fluid fabric than your typical stiff trench coat. It’s $49 and fits and lays on me so beautifully! Nothing beats a basic!

4. FLOATY, MAXI DRESSES

Romantic dresses in floor-sweeping sheer styles were seen in abundance on the runways. They are both comfortable and glam. Elisabetta Franchi and Elie Saab rocked the runway with their printed maxi dresses. Just so romantic. You’re going to be able to find options in every store this spring.

My purple maxi is from Anthropologie. It’s available in 4 different colors, but I love this current Lilac.

5. FUN, TEXTURAL PRINTS & PATTERNS

Once again, this trend goes back to the playfulness that was apparent on the runways. We saw bolder & brighter colors. And along with color, there was dimension and texture and patterns! Textural stripes in Dior, modern vintage florals in Chanel and psychedelic prints & tie dye.

I’m wearing an embroidered knit tee from Athropologie. I love the color & texture & pattern. It gives off such a "happy" vibe.

6. VOLUMINOUS SLEEVES & SILHOUETTES

We saw the puff-sleeve trend pop up back in 2018. Since then it has been reimagined season after season. Which, I think it’s safe to say... it’s here for at least another season. This season, we are seeing not just voluminous sleeves, but volume throughout the entire silhouette. We saw gorgeous balloon sleeves in Ellie Saab and structured volume in Carolina Herrera.

Here I have this sorbet-colored sweater with voluminous sleeves. They’re not crazy, but definitely current. As you wear this trend in your day to day, be aware of your proportions and strive to keep them balanced. For example, if you have wider hips—maybe you’re shaped like a triangle, then wearing voluminous sleeves will actually create that hourglass silhouette and your shape will look more balanced.

7. OVERSIZED BOYFRIEND JACKETS

Oversized menswear, specifically boyfriend blazers, is another trend continuing from last year. And this look isn’t going away anytime soon. Oversized boyfriend blazers are a great way to create a long line silhouette and play with shape and proportion. This is a very easy look to rock when paired with a straight- or skinny-leg trousers. You could also rock with some shorts.

We are seeing a lot of color and pattern in these jackets, like this pink one from & Other Stories. I love the pattern and color. It’s a high-quality jacket that’s not going to break the banks. So make it fun. Layer up for this effortlessly chic look.

& Other Stories, $179

I'd love to hear what spring fashion trends YOU are looking forward to most?
